Alright, so, news flash. The news script was rewritten. Again. This time, it's still the same it's just now it's database driven!
That's right, back in the day when I was first inventing thespork.com and on the first day I created index.asp. On the second I created polls include, on the third fourth and fifth days I wrote random fight club quotes and on the sixth day I wrote news.asp. Then I wrote pic and pics.asp and finally journal.asp on the seventh through ninth day cause the great programmer doesn't rest on the seventh day. I then debugged etc. etc.
Anyway, so back in the day when I wrote thespork.com I was doing everything in text files, remember? it's in the first post I believe, scroll down to the bottom to find the news archive. Anyway, now everything is almost fully database driven. What does this mean? I don't know, but it's less code on my part and probably means more overhead and slower download times on my slow 400MHz Pentium II! Hurray!
So yeah, what this means is that soon, it's going to be easier for me and the other spork ops to get stuff done around here. Now that this finally works I can create a link that will finally let us edit our updates straight from the site, rather than me having to go edit the textfiles/database. It also means I've freed up some hard drive space. And it also means, just like the new pics page I still haven't implimented, that I can make a page to search the news archive. But I'm ahead of myself, so enjoy the new database driven news page that is EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE OLD ON ON THE OUTSIDE SO YOU'LL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT IT.
On to write my math writeup. Enjoy.
