hi, i was wondering if anyone knew about the FAFSA. like, should my parents do their tax returns before we start filling it out? and after you've filled it out, what do you do with it? send one to every school? and scholarships? a lot of those say to fill out the FAFSA, but what do i do with it? thanks.

Your parent's taxes (and yours if applicable) should be done prior to filing a FAFSA. Otherwise, you will have to amend your FAFSA once it the taxes are done, and that is a real pain in the rear. Some schools won't even process info until the tax figures for 2002 are in.
You can fill out your FAFSA online if you want, or mail it in to the govt. There should be an address in the booklet.
There is space on the FAFSA to list the schools that you want to receive your Fin Aid information. Each school has a code # (kinda like the ACT/SAT.) As for scholarships, each one is likely different- the ones I applied for that needed a FAFSA wanted it attached to the scholarship application. Best to check for each scholarship.
Hope this helps. I have filled out a few of these (OK...like 10 yrs worth- hence my $50000 in student loan debt), and never screwed one up.
