I sit here in this

I sit here in this room, take a look around, study what I see, and ask myself one question ... a question I've never asked myself before, it's something more serious than you'd think ... it's a rare realization ... did we always have striped wallpaper? No, seriously, I don't think I ever noticed before. That's seriously fugged up to not notice something like that. hehe.

ALRIGHT! News update time. I know the 18 of you that vote in the polls (which I assume is the eighteen of you that visit the site) are really on your toes each day waiting for an update. So here goes.

Recent eye-candy: Tomb Raider. FARRRRR too much plot for my tastes. They took what could have been a decent action movie, and put no where near enought action in. Like when you think Lara Croft the movie, you're gonna think too things (and this is my props to phil becker on this one) a movie shot primarily in slow motion of heavy artilery (just picture lara croft pumping out round after round ... it's like cha-chunk ... cha-chunk (slow-mo remember)). And the other thing would have been girls in wet t-shirts. Yes, that's right, slow-mo of girls in wet t-shirts. Again, these are all props to Philip on this one. Although, I guess they did alright on the latter. No wet t-shirts but there was some decent ... err. Anyway, there really was too much plot. All this stuff about the end of time and some damn triangle made of concrete. That's my two-cents on the movie. It was good, but it need a bit more action fighting very similar to the opening scene (it was the climax of the fighting). It also had far too much plot, they shoulda just stuck with the no-brainer no-plot action movie.

Let's see, what else is new. Gonne redo the poll system soon. That's gonna be phat. It'll support more than one poll at once, viewing all the old polls, etc. You know I still don't have MY OWN page to administer the polls? I always manually add them in access. It's funny. Also, NavSEAL is tweaking the image script to his liking. His ideas are really good, too. Only problem is that he doesn't know VBScript, so it's probably taking a while. So, I might end up using his tweaked version, or redo it to support the same features.

Can't think of much else, although I've already seen it, I was really in the mood for a movie, so if I don't fall asleep (which is what's happening to me now) I'll probably go watch O Brother Where Art Thou again. Kamel burned me a copy.

Many of you saw this

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Many of you saw this update recently on thespork.com. The first stages are complete. We're planning a reinstall soon.

The TheSpork.com Server was down all day yesterday due to downed internet. OUR apologies to those whose websites were down as well.
TheSpork.com the website, not the server, is now down while I fix a few problems that have arisen since recent memory upgrades.
We doubled the RAM in the server because it was sitting in a perpetual state of virtual memory for about a year now. (hehe, oops).
Actually, the sad thing was that we knew it was doing so (hehe)
We're anticipating in less than a month we will have one more down time so that we can reinstall everything in a much more efficient and error free way. This should fix errors like the ones you get when you visit here

Note the errors in the link above have now changed, so, ignore that link. The error you would have seen would have been "unspecified error in journal.asp".

Movie Reviews Well, I just

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Movie Reviews Well, I just saw a good movie. Now, I'm debating, wether to put this on the top ten. See, cause the first half isn't so hot, plus there's a lot of holes in the movie, at least in my opinion. But, it's still on the top ten for "movies that in the end hit you with a bang". Fight Club, the number one movie of all times, and number one on the "wow" factor list, is definitely (being number one) the best example. But this movie, hits you with a bang that you definitely wouldn't have expected. Now, sooo many people said that The Usual Suspects is such a movie. This was not the movie I saw, and I'll get to it in a sec, but I predicted The Usual Suspects around 20 to 30 minutes before it ended. I won't give away the ending, I'm not like that. But, the same happened with me and Silence of the Lambs. I thought it was good, but I predicted absolutely everything. AND WHY? Because I saw both movies long after they came out. That was my problem. People make such great movies and I don't see them when they come out, instead I see all the movies who have become the Slience of the Lambs cliche, or The Usual Suspects cliche. So in thinking about that, and to compensate for the fact that I'd seen a bunch of movies that have all been predictable, it was easy to predict the originals because I'd seen the cliches, and thus I'm going to deem Usual Suspects up there in top ten wow factor movies.
Now, the movie I saw tonight I didn't predict. But it had it's flaws. The movie was called Gossip, and I somehow got hooked on it when it started. At first what started out as what I thought a simple school project, unwinds this sick twisted plot underneath. THEN, to top it all off, the VERY end of the movie reveals a second sick twisted plot underneath the sick twisted plot that was underneath. But the movie again, still had some flaws. So, I'm definitely going to add it to top ten wow factor, but underneath Fight Club (obviously) and underneath Memento. I never did review memento. That was VERY good. Worth every penny, too. Entire movie is backwards. It's incredble. AND, here's the excellent part of that movie. If Memento were a murder case, let's say. It would be like starting with finding the villain. Normally, when you find the villain, there's this, what I always call, the wow factor. So, this was weird, you start with the finding of the villain. But then, at the end of the movie, but what was actually the beginning of the story, THAT'S when you're hit with the wow factor. The end of it all is actually, which is the awesome part, inconsequencial.
So what am I saying. Well, I dunno. But Gossip was a good enough movie, and it deserves to go up there on wow factors, not totally, but up there. Kinda like Usual Suspects. I can't deem that too high, because I wasn't totally wowed, but I'm compensating for Usual Suspsects. And because Gossip had holes in the story, I'm not going to put it up there. But ten bucks says none of you can guess the ending to Gossip if you watch it. So go rent it, it's definitely worth it, and a really cool movie. Plus, all three of the main characters are really cool actors. And to conclude this, rant of sorts, I'm going to say that I also saw this movie last night called Virtual Sexuality. Now, I know what you're thinking, WHOA, Spork, that's a little risque. But it's ok, there's barely any sex in the hole movie. None in fact. No ACTUAL sex at all in the movie. And I know what you're thinking, no, there wasn't even virtual sex. By sexuality they're implying whether you're feminine or masculine. Now, that movie is in no way top ten. But I recommend it only because it was sooooooo stupid, and it's from England. There, I said it. I wish I spoke with an english accent, or had a friend who spoke with one. In fact, I wish I knew a girl who had an accent like the main character in this movie because her accent was awesome. Yay people who speak with british accents. Again, all of you are probably thinking I'm sickly fugged in the head, or that I'm a pervert. Just watch the movie, and you'll see that the movie was in fact totally horrible, YET, somehow you enjoyed watching it. That's why I recommend it. It's not bad like Screwed is bad, or like Three to Tango is bad, yet somehow you watch those movies. It's a different kind of bad. Again, this movie is barely sexually oriented, only because there isnt' a movie these days that isn't. If you try and say anything, all I have to say is that American Beauty is totally sexually oriented and yet everyone around talks about what a great movie it was. No one says anything to them. But if you say anything, then just because the movie has the three letters "s-e-x" in it doesn't mean it's all bad. So, watch it, you'll probably hate yet if you think to yourself you'll think "I kinda enjoyed that movie". Or maybe I am just a sick guy. I don't know.

Wow, I am getting a

Wow, I am getting a lot done, FOR ONCE! I code all night. I fixed the poll. If I don't make a new poll, then it just shows the results from the last one and "poll ended". It's great. Then, I fixed the news archive which never looked right at all because I forgot the </table> tag. Now it's nice and neat and formatted. It's "totally razor". Let's see, what else. I'm working on this REALLY phat script that has no affect on all of you, but it's goes towards my great principal of "everything automated" so I don't have to do anything. I can't tell you now because I don't want this one person to read. He'll probably read this and wonder what the hell I'm talking about. He'll probably know it's him, too. But I won't spoil the fun.

Not that back there I said "all of you" instead of "you all" or worse ... "ya'll". Im' trying to get out of the horrible habit of saying "ya'll". What else ... umm, upgraded the server to Service Pack 2 finally, and also upgraded it's Frontpage Server Extensions to the 2002 version. I've thought of a really easy way to make a "view old polls" feature. I'll try and write that by sunday. Like I said, doing a lot on this other script. I guess that's all for now, participate in the poll, tell all your friends, let's get people back to thespork!
