wow, i was bored and see what "thespork.com : the college years" looked like. About as inactive as i guessed... oh well... ian's webcam is cool too... and it doesn't involve random IM's from "5k4nk2000" inviting you to "watch me get drunk and strip down with my 3 hot friends who like to have lesbien sex." Good job ian, for making the webcam world a better place.

i just got a webcam today, so you should look out for that one ... live feeds of my beautiful, hot, unadultered, raw sexuality in physical, yet digital, form

I will try to set it up to take a snapshot every 5-60 seconds (I'll figure out a good interval) in addition to serving live video chats on MSN Messenger (eek! I know, it sucks, but someone just told me about eyeball chat and if it weren't 2:52 AM my side and 3:52 AM server side I'd probably be installing it right now ... so look out for "eyeball" as well ...)

yay.

That was a fun time.

So I also got to meet dave eggers last night. He wrote a new forward slash introduction to the new edition of Mark Twain's "A Tramp Abroad" and came to Northwestern to speak about it. Basically, he told us right away, that he'd done a "scholarly" speech before at UMich and that he blew so badly that this time, in an effort not to suck so much, he was just going to read us what he wrote for his introduction and interject at random locations for interesting stories. My god is he one of the funniest men alive. So was Twain, as he pointed out to us.

And then of course followed the oh so fucking predictable questions from the supposedly but obviously not intellegent Northwestern students such as "What was it like writing a book about such a personal subject" and "How did it feel exposing yourself" or "Speaking of exposing yourself, did you by chance get on a subway in New York in random month 1999 and drop your pants screaming 'I am naked man'" to which eggers says "no" to which the guy responds "well he was wearing the same sweater" to which eggers responds "so he had my sweater, but not my looks, my face, my hair color ... just a sweater?" to which no response from the other student, to which someone yells "drop your pants now and maybe he can verify" to which eggers immediately moves on ... questions such as "how can a young aspiring author as myself get advice, or get a book published, or what suggestions do you have."

I swear to god. But he handled himself well, and he basically tells everyone not to ever write a memoir. For valid reasons. Even though he did it.

Afterwards, he propped 826 Vilencia, and then the "Lost Boys" of Sudan. That was really cool, because he supposedly had the lost boy who acts sort of as their leader with him. However, he didn't make it.

Afterwards at the reception, I scored a nice spot in the line for signatures, and got both my books signed. I asked him about the girl from 826 Vilencia, the non-profit poetry ogranization. She read her stuff at the "They Might Be Giants vs. McSweeney's" show in Washington, DC at GWU. He wrote her name in my book for me. NICE. Here are the sigs:

AHWOSG
YSKOV

He wrote on my YSKOV "we shall meet again" in reference to me being at the TMBG vs. McSweeney's show. That was a fucking great time, he even admitted it. It was the first time they tried it, and consequently the best. He said he's been touring ... england I think, or maybe it was iceland ... I dunno. Either way, supposedly they're still doing the TMBG tour thing, which is awesome.

So yeah, then the lost boy shows up while I'm talking to eggers, (oh yeah, he commented on my "world's greatest grandpa" shirt) and the guy Dominic (the lost boy from sudan) showed up and spoke about his incredible life story that eggers is helping him write into an autobiography. These boys left their home in Sudan when they were sometimes only four years old, and traveled all through Sudan to Etheopia, back to Sudan after Etheopia kicked them out, to Kenya, all over. "Dominic" saw his own friends/brothers shot, die of starvation, eaten by lions, etc. AN AMAZING story.

Anyway, this entry is long. Things are going well, I am loving college, and if you have aim check out my external profile cause I actually updated it. Although, a lot of the stuff in it is from this entry, but, whatever.

I saw Kill Bill opening

I saw Kill Bill opening night ... and again tonight. FUCKING BADASS. Oh my god what a good movie. Anyone that wants one awesome movie go see this one! It's intense times ten. You thought pulp fiction was good, you thought resevoir dogs was intense, this is like ... pulp + dogs quantity cubed. WOW.

so yeah, things are going well, i'm going home for the weekend of the 24,25,26th. Just a little break to see the rents and the little brother with his drivers license. CRAZY.

Anyway, it's a saturday night, and while I went out last night it wasn't much, so I'm bored. Maybe I'll find something.

Curtis had his baby on Saturday!!! It's a girl, and her name is Francis! w00t.

I made the mock trial

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

I made the mock trial team. W00t. I gave them a decent cross examination, with the shittiest closing argument and they still took me. It was magnificent. I paused for a whole 10 seconds, and then looked up and just said "uhh, yeah ... .so" It was brilliant. I'm on the green team. I have no idea what that means, and also if that's good or bad. It was the last team they listed on the sheet, so I dont' know what that means either. Whatever, I'll blow them away in the court room.

In other news, I bought a Northwestern hoodie. It's fucking purple. But it's dark purple, so I was ok buying it. Any lighter though and I'd have just waited till they got more blue in stock. Maybe once I save up some money I'll get a blue one too. but probably not.

I bought Smash Brothers for my gamecube, and now everyone is always in my room playing that.

Eli came to visit me at Northwestern the other day, I guess Saturday it was, the same day that we got our asses kicked by Minnesota. It was awesome, we were up 14-0 in the first quarter, and we were having so much fun it was incredible. Then suddenly out of nowhere Minnesota pulls out with a 42-3 shutout the next three quarters leaving us at 42-17. I hate that.

so yeah, Eli came, and we walked around campus and evanston and she even volunteered playing smash brothers, and it was a good time. glad she could come.

umm, what else ... college is fun, I don't really do anything ... I plan on fixing that eventually

Other than that, yeah ... panera bread is giving away free coffee mugs to NU students, so I might go grab one and let them redeem themselves as the greatest company ever ... I haven't even eaten there yet since I've been to NU and I've probably been inside like five times

Alright, so now I'm angry

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

Alright, so now I'm angry with the Panera Bread company. Before they were my heros, now I hate them. Last night we grab burritos from Chipotle, a Qdoba knock off that isn't half as good but all there is to offer in Evanston, and it's too crowded inside so we head to Panera, across the block. We go inside, try to sneak past the staff, but some lady comes and yells at us to leave because we can't just come in their restaurant with other food and just eat at their tables. We asked if we could buy something and then eat, they said no.

Granted, they're probably justified. But come on, don't they have something better to do than yell at us? ehehe, it was funny, cause we step outside, and we see that our buddy Sam was legitimately buying something from them and he sees us leaving and we're like "sorry sam, we got kicked out." We then waited outside for Sam, and when he comes outside he's like "yeah, they were pretty pissed, but they still were really nice to me. i was short thirty cents and they still gave me a free brownie."

ehehe.

This post is dedicated to the girls in 513, President Stef Kruse and Social Chair Caitlin Theisen. Get up, girls.

For those of you who know what I'm talking about, I went to that Built to Spill show a few posts back, and they were the ones that so graciously let me sleep on their couch that night because the dorm police won't let you move in till the next day. Rawk out.

They're also the ones that have let me take on the esteemed and honorable position of floor rep for floor three. That's right, floor rep. This is quite obviously my first step to acquiring power in the oval office.

So Katie, Stef, many thanks.

turns out I've been living under a rock ... last night I found out that northwestern has a good business school. I'm like "oh, cool." Then I find out "yeah, actually, it's number one." to this I'm like "whoa."

I totally thought that was UPenn's job (Wharton). Soooo, I'm now taking an economics double major from the number one business school in the nation. F*** ME.

This is gonna be shitty hard.
