OK, this is somewhat of an experiment.

Tonight was chem lab ...

Tonight was chem lab ... fuck it.

Delta Zeta's (DZ's) came to the frat for dinner. I think i counted like ten girls total. I guess a bunch had class or reviews or something, even one of the girls i knew couldn't make it. Shame. Oh well, in the never ending search for kids and a minivan, I will say there were a couple of cute girls. I also finally got to meet Claire from southern Indiana who so adamantly was bashing Louisville once at tech express. Somehow she thinks southern Indiana is a better place to live than Louisville. She calls us rednecks when she doesn't realize what's worse ... being a fucking Hoosier. Anyway, it was funny; we laughed, and then moved on and forgot our differences. I made up for it all by mentioning my Dad's now moving to Jersey and how I have to hate half myself and what an unfortunate thing it is to hate half of one's self.

Speaking of which my mom is in Jersey right now helping my dad look for a place in Princeton. I guess Lawrenceville is only 15 minutes from Princeton. Whatever, college town is all I have to say.

New props to Devin (we gotta get that kid on here ... is he still devray whatever?) for the Zero 7 album ... Simple Things.

Turns out Grant had both the Avalanches and Zero 7 and never told me about these great finds. Eh, whatever, I'd say "fuck him" but he's a seal and he can kick my ass ;-). Plus I wouldn't actually mean it if I said it. So instead, I tell stories with selected details that exaggerate his experiences at the Naval Academy. "At a boy" I say instead to our boy. At a boy.

With that, I’m done, there could be more, but I have work to do.

Me.

I was gonna write all

| 8 Comments | No TrackBacks

I was gonna write all this shit about how the idea of school sucks, but decided it wasn't sounding right. Hehe. So I'll just say that I didn't write my essay last night, I went to bed at 2:00 and woke up early and worked on it till my first class, which I went to leave for, but the girl i always walk with wasn't going, so I went back to bed, instead of class OR working on my essay .... wake up when the class i missed was over, and I get up and work on the essay (cause I didn't have class) and then leave for my second class of the day at noon, come back, finish the paper, finish my team's project presentation, went to JK Sweets to order 200 cookies for my dorm munchies tonight, and then made it to EDC where I turned in my paper and gave a kickass presentation. It was actually a really good day, and I felt productive. And it's not even over yet!

Umm, yeah, so ... i decided not to eat today, until dinner ... I muslim fasted in essence (sun up to sun down). although, I did go to Jamba Juice and take a shot of wheatgrass. Wow that was interesting. One chases it with orange, afterwards. One shot is an ounce, so I bought a double, and then she refilled it cause she made too much so i actually had an effetive 3 shots or 3 oz of wheatgrass. Supposedly this stuff seriously cleanses the system, and jazz.

A week from today is SushiFest II ... this time we're actually gonna see how much we can really eat. We're gonna get our fucking 16.95's worth this time. I will be bed-ridden all week with how much raw fish I intend to inhale. That or I'll be rolled down the sidewalk like a barrel I'll be so huge.

Eh, that's it ... I think I had more but I forgot most of it.

Spork.

PS - M83 anyone? My brother really likes this album ... I like it too, I just haven't listened to it enough. But man, that Avalanches album hit me immediately as good.

Devin Franklin, wherever you are,

Devin Franklin, wherever you are, I owe you one. I only just now got around to listening to The Avalanches - Since I Left You album, and man is it good. I really like this album, so everyone go check it out!

And Stacy, thanks for indirectly telling me I should blow off chem class this morning because his lectures are useless anyway and sleep+paper due in a few hours is much more important. Yay.

It's 1:30 in the morning,

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

It's 1:30 in the morning, and there's a paper due in my EDC class tomorrow ... 3 pages ... on something engineerful. Fuck that, instead, I've been revisiting friends that I've missed and havent' seen enough of because of the whole frat thing. Seriously, the girls downstairs I dont' see enough of, and i have the best example to show why. This was tonight, about half an hour ago.

Elizabeth: One day my prince will come.
John: Yeah, and one day my princess will come.
Elizabeth: Hopefully twice.

Damn straight. I'm also to say that Tasneem is my hero, and Summar is my friend. Fareesa was asleep, so no report from her tonight.

Other things ... this morning, I walked out of my dorm room with massive attack in the player, and it was "Angel" obviously cause it's the first track. Those of you who know this song, probably realize why this was a really cool way to start my day, especially when the particular jump start part of the song was as I was walking down the hallway ... it was so soundtrack of my life. I love it when I can pull that off.

Today was my first apprenticeship with WNUR the Chicago Sound Experiment! Everybody tune in from 4-6:30 if you want to catch the whole set, but none of it is me. In fact, I dont' actually show up till 5:00 cause I have class, and the last half hour (6:00-6:30 for you non math based majors) is set aside for apprentice DJ'ing. Now, there's another apprentice, so I dunno, I guess we share the half hour. But whatever, two quarters of this and next year I've got my own show! It's really cool, I like Ryan who is my DJ, and I like Drew who is the other apprentice, and then Ryan alternates with one of my Lambda Chi brothers, Matt, and his friend Justin (they share the show). So basically Drew and I show up every monday for the rest of the quarter, and each week it switches off DJ's between Ryan and Matt'n'Justin.

What else is exciting ... I lost in chess tonight ... shame. This saturday is Something called Impact, a leadership thing for Lambda Chi. That'll be fun times. I feel like there was something else cool about this weekend, but we'll see. My paper is due in 13 hours ... should I just churn out shit in the hour break I have after lunch before 2:30 when class starts? No, I should do it tonight ... or wake up early. But I really dont' want to do either, I just don't want to write it. That's really why I'm posting, which is good, I haven't had procrastination in a while which is why it took so long to get me back on the webposting updating track. But here I am! Back in full force, and yes you better damn believe that I know I'm stalling right now to keep from having to write my paper.

SHINY METAL OBJECTS!!! SHINY METAL OBJECTS!!! (this is to represent, or signify, or symobologizate that I am easily distracted)

I'm ripping every CD I own to MP3 ... this is taking a while. Go Figure. Listening to the Royal Tenanbaums OST right now.

People I miss, in random no particular order

Marc, Grant, Joanna, Diya, Iain, Jon, Paul, Tyler, Brian and D-bo, making fun of Stef Ellis, making fun of Miss Ma, Mr. Curtis, et. all

With that, I should really go ...

So I play pool nonstop,

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

So I play pool nonstop, like a madman. It's crazy. I average 5 games a day, at least, but if you count days where I play 15-20 ... I probably actually average 10 games a day. Tyler Kirtley better look out if he knows what is good for him.

Tonight, I broke and sunk 2 solids and a stripe off the break. So, with the solid advantage, I go with it ... 5 balls later and my friend and fellow fraternity brother still hadn't even touched his cue stick! So I'd run the table, all that was left was the eight ball, if I sank that then Rishi would have lost without getting a turn. What happens? I miss. OK, no prob, I still ran the table on him. He sinks one ball, and then misses the next ... alright, eight ball is definitely in line, side pocket, BAM! yes ... but wait ... cue ball is slowly trickling ... trickling ... no stop ... NO! ... don't you fucking do it ... ok good, it's slowing down ... but not fast enough ... towards the corner pocket ... FUCKING DICKHEAD DON'T YOU ... ahh shit, I lost on an eight ball scratch. I ran the table, and lost on an eight ball scratch.

Hehe ... last night, Saturday night ... I decide to trust my roommate and go to an emo concert (ack!). Appleseed Cast. They actually had pretty good music, it didn't change too drastically between songs, and the singing blew (com'n, the guy was emo, and by all laws of logic would consequently have been robbed of the male genitalia) but I could definitely rock to the guitar. The opening acts were pretty good too. The first was Chin Up Chin Up, a local act that I really enjoyed. Next came Cougars, a band that luckily was energetic enough and entertaining enough to enjoy despite the singers screaming (instead of singing) vocal style. I also was seriously digging the brass, one trumpet and one sax, because they not only kicked ass, but danced like mofo's when they weren't tooting they tunes.

Friday night was gone greek night. Forgive me for going reverse chrono here. Gone Greek Night is one debaucherous (I just learned how to pronounce this word Saturday night! yay me) drunken seething roaring shouting mess. It starts like this:

I get all ganked out in my hot blue shirt (yeah, you all know the one) throw on gray pants and a blue sport coat ... swank. Borrow my suitemates tie, then, I proceed to cut myself in about nine individual places shaving. Two of the cuts are serious ones, taking some time to blot with a Kleenex, making me think I'm gonna be late and get yelled at. Yay me, I'm off to a great start. Then, I make my way over to a Lambda's room not too far from my own dorm, and proceed to be paranoid and ask everybody I see if they can tell I cut myself nine times shaving. This is what I do. This is what I get for trying to dry shave after a month of normal shaving, and cold/dry weather. Silly me. So then we go to Kappa Delta, our whole frat (the frats pair up with a sorority), and eat pizza ... fucking pizza ... oh well, this is supposedly better than hot dogs the year before

At Kappa Delta, I see Jenny Kim (a KD pledge), and she's nice at first, then pokes fun at my financial situation, which isn't cool in front of people I don't know cause it makes me out to be the asshole snob I’m definitely not, and things are awkward ... but no matter, a girl from my dorm was at the table, so I speak with her, and then out of nowhere they kick us out, cause I guess they were a little anxious to get drunk (see, all the drinking is done separately). A seriously short dinner, so no getting over newly acquainted awkwardness or anything of the sort.

So it's back to friend's dorm, four shots of vodka before I lose count, and by the way, I've yet to have vodka I've actually liked. I need to go home and sip some Finlandia or something (I'm ashamed to say I haven't had any yet). Then it's time for serenading. This is actually rather fun. Basically, we serenade the ladies while they sing songs back about being drunken succubi and shiat. We also have three roses to give to whomever we choose. I ended up with six by the end of the night (hehe). Our songs included:

Lambda Cabana. For example, this one might go "Her name was Ashley, she was a Theta, with yellow feathers in her hair ... :skip a bunch: at the lambda, lambda cabana" ... by the way, Ashley was definitely a hottie. Next came "my girl," which was the original lyrics unlike lambda cabana with the exception of changing my girl to the two syllable nickname of the sorority. Then comes growing pains, which we were told would result in wild screaming of teenage heart-throb sorority chicks, but had mixed results. Then we ended with "goodnight sweetheart, well, it's time to go." during this last one we get down on our knees and reach for a girls hand and sway with her. This is a lot like sex, except not in any way, shape, or form; nor physically, ideologically, metaphorically.

So the first house was theta, then I forget the order, but my roses went to Tiffany at Theta, Elena at Delta Gamma, Rachel at Pi Phi, Christina at A-Phi, one my hallmates Dina at Kappa Delta, and one of my other hallmates Stacy at Chi Omega. Somewhere in there was a hug from ashley at Gamma Phi.

So, it's back to North Mid Quads for 2 swigs of Rum, a Stroh's Light, and my second shot of peppermint schnapps for the evening. Then more paranoia about whether I should change or not, cause the evening event is not formal, but I look so nice and swanky, and so I remove my sport coat and tie, but soon after I arrive at the Best Western dance floor I decide it's best to untuck and roll sleeves. hehe. Yes, the Best Western dance floor ... it was back together with Kappa Delta and still shadiness from Jenny Kim (I don't think it's her fault, I'm pretty sure she was smashed) and us, pike, and delta chi were to fraternize (yes, that's corny) with Kappa Delta and Alpha Chi Omega.

For the first hour or so, I wasn't really having fun, because I hate dances, always have, always hated the music, but I was under the influence (sorta, my tolerance basically just means that I had a slight buzz after all I'd drank). So, an hour of being miserable, and totally awkward, and finally this girl asks myself and two brothers if one of us would dance ... the other two, older, wiser, and all knowing shove me and I'm off to the dance floor to ... well, dance like I never thought i actually could dance. Surprisingly, I wasn't too bad, and I had a good time ... and it kinda makes me wish I could do the whole gone greek night thing again, all over, and next time have a bit more balls and definitely a bit more alcohol. Although, Jeff Stone did get me a jack and coke later, which is one of my favorite drinks and definitely helped continue the evening, till they turned the lights on and Jeff Stone was prancing around like a fairy cause the bartender had small glasses and decided that when Jeff asked for a long island ice tea that he'd still put the five shots in and have barely room enough for a sip of the coke and even do this the second time when Jeff went back. but yes, jeff running like a fairy was fun.

And so gone greek night ended, and again i wish I'd could do it over just to make it even that much better (cause it was definitely a great night but not even as great as it could have been).

And with that, I'm going to bed, cause it's like 3:40 here and I have to get up at 8:00 for mournday classes, as I prefer to call them, and I didn't even have homework tonight I've just been working off and on writing this post, talking to people, and ripping mp3's for the past 3 or 4 hours.

Because like every other normal

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

Because like every other normal human being I've been watching so much family guy, I even start to anticipate the Peter jokes before they happen. So much so, it happens in real life.

Here is a sample Family Guy-esque dialogue from tonight, which was a lecture for "gone greek night" the drunken seething roaring shouting mess.

Lecturer: 1 in every 4 women say they've been sexually assaulted. 1 in every 12 men admit to having sexual contact of any form with a woman without her consent.
Peter: See Lois, I told you that women are liars.

Alright, so, some things to

| 8 Comments | No TrackBacks

Alright, so, some things to talk about

First, for those of you getting this virus ... The person that sent it to you is in no way the person that is infected. That's not to say that they aren't infected, they have received the virus email too. But the virus is pretending to be people it is not!

Second, I have joined a fraternity! It's crazy, I know, I even made fun of this fraternity for stalking me all last quarter. Many of you made jokes like "I wish fraternity boys were stalking me" (this comment came from mostly girls and Joe Yeager, I believe) Anyway, the fraternity is Lambda Chi Alpha, or more appropriately LCA. This fraternity is not your animal house or your wild college party frat. Basically, it's known for being the gentlemen frat, or the frat where everyone gets along. It has been so far a fairly small frat, but this year we had more associate members then we expected. 27+ associate members dropped their bids.

That's another thing, we dont' have "pledges." In fact, we avoid the word altogether because of the hazing associated with it, as well as the separation of the new members from initiated members. The only thing differing myself from an iniatiated member is simply that I have not see the initiation ritual. I have full rights otherwise, including voting and holding office.

Everyone there is great, even the red-headed irish catholic (none of thos adjectives are hits against him) named Jay who stalked me all last quarter. He's actually a really great guy. Anyway, it's just a very great experience, and I had a number of reasons for doing it. To be honest, I felt slightly dissatisfied with my college experience. I wasn't totally feeling like Northwestern was necessarily the fit for me, or that I was meeting enough people. But already, since I've joined LCA, I haven't had any of those thoughts.

I've already gone paintballing with the guys, which by the way was a blast. It was miserable conditions (cold, wet, uber cold, snow, uber wet) and so our goggle fogged 2-3 minutes into the match. But the THREE matches where my goggles DIDN'T fog made up for the rest of the day. Seriously, i want to go back paintballing in the warm weather sometime when goggles won't fog and I can see. That was a seriously good time.

Another good time was going out for Sushi with two of the guys who I actually didn't meet till AFTER I dropped my bid, Adam and Phil. These two guys are GREAT, and they found this Sushi place called Dr. Zushi. (yeah, cheesy, and it's spelled with a Z). It's supposed to be all Japanese/Euro blend about itself, but we show up on a tuesday night, and immediately notice on the menu ... all you can eat sushi for 16.95! AND THIS WAS GOOOOOOD SUSHI. We ate like kings that night.

Anyway, what else. My Dad has a new job. He is no longer the President of the Brown Forman Distillery Company, but is now CEO of Lenox, Inc. one of Brown Forman's subsidiary companies. Lenox makes all those really nice plates and china and collectables as such. It's a really big move for him, and a good one. I know a lot of people have already read the article in the courier-journal, and so i should probably clear up that we are NOT moving. My dad will basically do a M-Th in Jersey and a F-Sun in Louisville. My mom and occasionally some of us in college will go visit him up in Jersey. My older brother is trying to convince him to get a place in NYC, but I don't think he actually will. So don't worry, I am not leaving louisville.

What else. I've started apprenticing at WNUR rock, the chicago sound experiment. That's really cool. should expect a lot of new music from me ... their mission is only to promote the lesser known bands, which is great.

I got a new camera for christmas that ROCKS my world ...

Umm, yea, so ... school is going well, i'm taking only Engineering classes so my schedule BLOWS, but I had no choice (literally). My diet went very well, until the day I quit, and then I bloated back out cause i didn't do the retransition phase where I slowly reintroduce carbs into my diet. Problem was, I drank one night while on the diet, and was miserable the next day, so I ate carbs that night cause I knew I'd be doing even more that night (rush week). So, it is probably better. I exercised this morning, which was good, it felt great, I'm gonna try to go again tomorrow.

Umm, yeah, if I've forgotten something, I apologize. My break was decent, but not awesome. But I was TRES satisfied, cause all I did was laze about and sleep and do nothing, and that was fantastic. That's the only reason I didn't say my break was awesome, cause I feel guilty calling a break where I did nothing but relax and chill fantastic. I wasn't active enough to have a fantastic break, but seriously, the doing nothing part WAS fantastic.

Average Joe 2: Hawaii, disgusts me. I'm sorry, I hate reality TV, and someone made me get into this show (I didn't see the first one) and basically I've decided I hate humanity. I've decided this many times in my life, a lot of things have helped me get in touch with my hatred for humanity ... Average Joe, working retail ... participating in an all you can eat cheese-steak eating contest. Y'know, things like that. But man, that girl is GORGEOUS. She's very pretty. My younger brother right now would interject that she isn't that great, cause she doesn't have big tits or something ... but I am a sucker for brown haired girls.

And yeah, this post is long enough. I'll think of more. I'm alive! And I'm well.

OK, this post is to serve a few functions.

1) to prove I'm alive
2) to say that I have too much work tonight to post a full update
3) to remind me (everytime I check my OWN website five times a day) that I need to update

I think that should suffice for now.
