Tomorrow I leave for Indianapolis.

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

Tomorrow I leave for Indianapolis. I used to quote my older brother, I think it was, who in turn quoted somebody saying Indiana is the weirdest state ever. Well, at this point that story is not only so corrupted and hearsay it holds no validity, but it doesn't change the fact that hoosiers are a strange breed. However, I've come to the conclusion that Indianapolis isn't entirely bad. So, just like Louisville is a colony of Indiana according to this article, and even though I definitley argue that nobody in Louisville tries to claim ties to the South (in fact, I just went ahead and told people I was from the midwest when I went to school), and I in fact would argue that if we are indeed a colony of Indiana then we long ago seceded ... Indianapolis, too, is a seceded colony of the weird state of Indiana.

So tomorrow my travels take me to Marian College, where I'll be staying in a dorm for one night while I partake in plenty of leadership training Tuesday night and all day Wednesday. Following, I'll be transporting over to the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and will be enjoying all of their luxuries until Sunday. Oh, and free high speed internet from what I've been told, though I dont' see this on their website.

Otherwise, I am now 4 for 5 on running these past days. I only lifted on day 2 of 2, i've been sore since (and still am). I need that muscle to rebuild. Hopefully i can force myself to run at the Hyatt.

I watched What a Girl Wants tonight. Well, most of it at least, i tuned in late. That movie was just stupid enough to keep me laughing. That, and who doesn't want to ravish Colin Firth or his daughter in this movie.

Joanna's Dad's restaurant was awesome! Yay Jo ... everybody go get good chinese food from 4th Street Live! (be sure to exclaim the exclamation on that one). I don't think my pocket book can afford to go back for quite some time ... but it's worth it if you've got the green!

Alright ... word to your mothers.

More productivity ... I revived

More productivity ... I revived the polling system (let's hope I update it as often as I'm updating this site nowadays) and the .NET Login screen on the front of the site. If you've forgotten your login information, email for it ... I'm no longer at spork@thespork.com so don't bother. (don't know why i bothered to make that a link ... maybe to piss spammers off it won't work?) update: just brought back the user filter for news ... working on an entry scrambler

but do try j dash hanauer at northwestern dot edu. I've avoided spam on that one thus far (with the exception of my address existing on a freaking engineering page through northwestern ... luckily that spam gets filtered easily and is only for discounted computer software for students).

What else do I need to do with this site? New layout. I'll work on that soon. First I need to fix up the layout for Cool Shades. (link below, I think).

I did it! I ran

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I did it! I ran today. Not very far, in fact, embarassingly short. But I did it. I'm so out of shape, but I don't care, because the first step to getting into shape is trying. In fact, I already feel better, either from the endorphins or just the satisfaction. Of course, this was all after a large lunch and now we're on my our way to August Moon shortly ... but hey, just cause the diet gods hate me, doesn't mean I didn't get off my ass for once today.

So tonight, to continue productivity, after I get back from dinner I will continue unpacking from school. Heh.

Peace love and hairgrease, ya'll.

Verdict is still out on

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

Verdict is still out on the phone call. I think it's awkward to call, because she probably wanted nothing to do with it ... but it's also rude not to call. So I'm going to sit on it for a few more.

However, for now, I've realized something. My summer has been completely unproductive, and nothing I'd hoped would happen has happened. I'd hoped I'd finish this Cool Shades website, face lift TheSpork.com, give purpose to TheSpork.NET, dish out BP Moto to my client, possibly collect his cash, start up my fraternity's website, begin work on Secret to Living, and maybe even sign something with the Louisville Country Club. There are probably others I'm forgetting.

Then I thought I'd run all summer, do the weight lifting thing, eat healthy, get in shape, while lazying about often enough to read lots of books and watch plenty of movies and work on plenty of websites.

So far, I've done plenty of lazying and hardly any of ANYTHING. Oh, I beat Metroid Prime, HA!

So, tonight, being that I've got half a pizza in me and it hasn't been nearly long enough to digest, out of all the options above, I've decided to do the one thing i did NOT plan on doing this summer right now, because I figured it would have been done a LONG time ago. UNPACK FROM COLLEGE.

That's right, unpack. I hadn't even loaded my PC up with all my music, I'd just been surviving off of a laptop with a few radiohead bootlegs and all the new indie downloads my brother has me get for him (which, I might say, are quite good ... I've gotten some Killers, The Bees, Unicorns, Fiery Furnaces, The Faint ... probably more).

I haven't even unpaked all my clothes. I've been surviving off of what was vital to remove from boxes in morning draped wet in a towel from the shower, and off those clothes left behind. Now i can say I've lived out of a cardboard box. Hehe.

We'll see how I shape up with things. Luckily, I'm awake right now, though I probably won't be for long. I have to go in early tomorrow to prepare for a meeting. What fun. I'm getting sick of my current project at work, it's time I finish up the damned thing.

Next week I go to Indianapolis for a conference. What good fun. I'll leave sometime Tuesday, and I imagine back that weekend? Though I actually don't think I've been paying attention to the that. All I know is party in Indie!

Now it's time for more unpacking. Ciao.

There's this woman in my

There's this woman in my cubicle area who is sort of like the mother figure. Granted all the women are mothers, but she's like the department's mother even though I'm the only real youngin. Either way, she is really funny and has a friend on the floor of our building. This friend has a daughter in the running for Miss Clark County (IN.) and so of course, the woman wants to set me up with the friend's daughter because she is my age and she thinks we'd make a cute couple.

Well, up until now I thought it was mostly teasing and wishful thinking on her part, but today she actually brought me the girl's cell phone number and mentioned she had shown her my badge photo and that she approved (I'll post this photo tomorrow when I get to work). If you've seen this photo, then you'd probably understand why I was distraught but surprised the girl approved. I've certainly better pictures. It's funny, because she actually said that I had a date Friday or Saturday night if I called.

In the end, I find this very funny because I'm not exactly the beauty pageant dating type, and I doubt this girl is the computer intern dating type, either. I'm guessing after the mother inquired as to what kind of car I drive, and my co-worker gigglingly (a word? is now) relayed the question/answer to the respective party that this all somehow relates to how my Dad used to be the boss for the major department that all of us currently work under. Perhaps I am wrong though and maybe we would just make a cute couple and perhaps she really did find something appealing in that heinous badge photo and I shoudl call this girl? But then I'm reminded that we're talking about me here.

Discussion? Gladly welcomed, though, probably not going to happen beccause it appears that my site or it's once prominant visiting population has dropped off the planet. One of the two, I'm thinking the former, but wishing it were the latter.

So I got a little

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

So I got a little curious about astroids hitting earth after watching this VH1 "I love the 90's" marathon and they showed Armageddon. So I discovered this NASA Freqently Asked Questions page here. I'm going to be quite honest. They're not very reassuring, and definitely very blunt. I feel like if an uncharted astroid showed up on a crash course for earth, and this asteroid is any larger than 50m in diameter, somebody is screwed ... larger than 1km and an entire city is instantly screwed while the rest of the world gets impact winter... anything larger than 2km diameter and the whole world will get a wonderful mass extinction impulse. Wow.

I'm looking forward to hopefully not ever having to worry about that. Actually, I think it would all be fine if they didn't say that we'd get zero warning in some cases. Like how do we not notice an astroid headed towards us? (btw, NEO = near earth object)

With at least half of even the larger NEOs remaining undiscovered, the most likely warning today would be zero -- the first indication of a collision would be the flash of light and the shaking of the ground as it hit. In contrast, if the current surveys actually discover a NEO on a collision course, we would expect many decades of warning.
Anyone else notice they say "if the current surveys actually discover a NEO?"

Hmpf.

Probably long overdue, I can't

Probably long overdue, I can't remember if I ever propped this, but SUBMIT! Secret to Living is taking off this summer, expect our first issue before winter! (FYI, this magazine is probably going to be either a quarterly, or a semiannual thing, hence long publishing times)

I feel very creative and energetic right now. Sadly, I am not creating for secret to living like i should be ... I have a web client's site I need to work on and to avoid that I'm talking online and posting here. I feel like if I started writing poetry or short stories I'd feel guilty for not working on the website. So I'll do neither.

PS - Six posts in two days. And this, although technically considered a post for "tomorrow" today, really is a post for "yesterday" today. Either way, that's seven posts in two days, and there will probably be more tomorrow. What is up?

Is this me? Should I

Is this me? Should I apply? Or should I hold out, cause what if the job sucks or so does the pay? I mean, I wanted to work at a camera company, I was going to research that first ... and can I cancel my registration at this point?

Any thoughts?

OK, somebody has to read

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

OK, somebody has to read this site ... either way, the RIAA is looking to make it illegal to even assist in any copyright infringement like downloading music. Therefore, people like Apple who sell a device that CAN be used in theory to utilize illegal copyrights (the iPod, duh), they could be sued.

Stop this!

It's time to inform our senators, so everyone go to the EFF's INDUCE ACT Action Alert page and let's get Kentucky (Jim Bunning, Mitch McConnell) or Illinois (Richard Durbin, Peter Fitzgerald) or whatever state you go to school in involved. The page will let you fill out your information and choose to send either an email or fax with your name on it to your state's senators (it'll automatically know where). If you're like me, you'll be cool and fill it out for both your home and school addresses.

Whatever.

This is kind of fun. - Thanks Joe.

Time to clean the pool.

How's everybody's summer? Great. Glad to hear it. Glad I stopped updating for long enough that everyone forgot this site exists. Sweeeeet. Now I can bash talk all of you!

The polling system has been

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

The polling system has been broken for some time, as has been my updating habits. Either way, I want to see some demographics here so I'm going to do this the old fashion way.

Whiskey or Whisky? (notice the difference?)

Let's get some input (there is no wrong answer)

You know, I respect Chuck

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

You know, I respect Chuck Norris.

I may have only seen a few scattered pieces of his movies or tv shows, but I respect him all the same. He just seems like the type of mother fucker that doesn't give a shit and says fuck it. That's what I found so awesome and hilarious with his agreeing to the scene in Dodgeball.

I just saw it on Sunday, and it was pretty funny. Gets boring at times, cheezy too, but there were some things that just made me LAUGH.

I was in Jersey though ... Is there somebody that would be kind enough and post a few comments on my site here DEFENDING Jersey? I just want to know how things look from the other side (either those that live there, or just those that like it).

Ponder that.

I really like this article/concept.

I really like this article/concept. It's about tired.com.

I am at work. Semi-tired, but actually found it by going to slashdot.org.

I'm in Jersey. Fun. I'm actually at Lenox, in my Dad's office, on his computer. He's in a meeting.

I guess we're heading to the shore once he's done, some place called Bayhead (I think). Last year we came to Jersey for a full week, this time it's a three nights. I'll spend the night in Princeton, though, on Sunday night, drive back Monday.

A long time with no post, I realize. I'm working at Brown Forman again this summer, Supply Chain still. Nothing has really changed. Something I did for them last summer is just now being implimented.

Otherwise, life is about the same as usual. Home for the summer, hanging out every now and then, and pretty much lazing about. I need to update this website more. I'll get around to that maybe this weekend.

John.
