Well, I'm home now. A lot needs to be written about, so where do I begin?
First, why the server was down. I think it was Tuesday, judging by the server logs, that there was a power out. And being in Utah, there was nothing I could do. Believe me, I was anxioius as everyone else to figure out why the hell I couldn't update the site. So when I finally got back home, I figured all this out, and booted back up the network. Well, I could get outside to the internet, but I couldn't reach thespork.com. AND I'M ON THE FREAKING NETWORK. After only a little thought, I immediately pondered "what if my ip address changed" and sure enough Insight changed it because they're communists. So I'm updating now at 1:00AM, but I'm sure it won't be until about 1:00AM saturday night that the site comes back up (that's worst case scenario).
Anyway, back to Utah. Great trip. I ended up taking a private lesson on Tuesday with one of the instructors from my group lesson I took monday. All we did was demo boards. I ended up trying the Burton Rush, The Salomon 450, and the Ride Timeless. The Rush was very stiff, and well balanaced. Incredible board, but I felt it was too heavy and slightly too stiff for my first board. The Salomon ended up being too soft in my opinion, and didn't feel like it was giving me much. The Ride Timeless ended up being that perfect mix. It was stiff and balanced and just rode well. So at the end of the day, I was planning on buying it and took it back to the shop.
Turns out the bindings were on backwards. I was riding goofy, but the tail end was facing forward. Funny, because subconciously I kept thinking it was backwards, but didn't think twice about it, which I should have, cause then I would have noticed. So, they let me demo again the next day for free, (they said the idiot girl who put my bindings on did that a lot). Well, I still loved the board, so I bought it from the same idiot girl. Thankfully, she took 40% off the already 40% off'ed price. Thank god she was an idiot. So yeah, got a Ride Timeless board, palmer bindings, salomon boots, and a burton bag. Nothing matches :-D. But everything was 40% off and the board was another 40. Awesome. Total ended up being 586 bucks.
Hurrah, now I only have 450 or so in the checking account and no job to replenish that. Can't wait for the summer so I can get back to best buy and make phat cash. Thinking about at the end of the summer when I've stacked up a very healthy supply of money, getting myself a notebook computer. That'd be cool. Or I could be really dorky and get one of those wireless palms my older bro suggested that are always online as long as you're in a service area. Only advantage would be portable email and thespork.com updates even when there's no computer around. Awesome. But no, I'm not that much of a loser. A notebook would be almost as bad, but not as bad. That way I'd at least have to find a phone line, but it would come with advantage of actually editing the site while on the road, not just updating. Portacoding. (sounds like the hideous pseudocoding).
Alright, so, very fun trip in Utah. Came back with a snowboard, a once sunburned and now peeling instead face, and a very scrubby unshaven face. I'm going to go scrub all the way through to tuesday morning, when I'll shave before school. Hurray. Fiend needs to lend me his camera so I can get a picture for you all. I look funny.
Spork.
