i wasnt going to actually take advantage of my posting privileges but an incubus review seemed necessary.
The venue sucked but the show was good.
Ticketmaster shafted us and gave us "arena" tix instead of "floor." John -er- 'spork' and i couldnt get on the floor due to the fact that we are of the male gender. Seems other people got floor tickets from ticketmaster though. hmm. next time i think i'll buy the tickets myself straight from the venue box office, this is twice we've been shafted on incubus tickets via internet. (ozzfest, summer 2000) Too bad our failsafe plan to get onto the floor didnt work out and even after trying every single security guard we couldnt get down there. Also, the guard at the door took my sharpie marker cause he said it was a "stabbing weapon." geez. I wanted to get backstage and get my album covers signed seeing as i brought in the liners to EVERY INCUBUS ALBUM RELEASED THUS FAR. grr. the guards up front looked like assholes too cause they were pulling down crowd surfers and stuff. too bad i wasnt down there or i could comment a bit more on that one. hopefully john -damnididitagain- 'spork' will post a dialogue of his conversation with one of the guards. very funny. betwen theSTART and incubus I even offered one my fone as collateral to go find the other half of our group for 3 minutes just to find out where to meet after the show (and work on borrowing some legit ticket stubs go get down on the floor). o well. i think in retaliation i'm starting a promotions company and we're gonna book incubus to headliners and make anybody who wants to go pass a written lyrics proficiency test and present at least 2 incubus albums to get in. that'll show all the teeny boppers who just wanna get backstage cause they think brandon smells good. ack, they make me sick. i think it was in spin that they had a thing on incubus as an "accidental sex icon" funny stuff. Mike was also in guitar one, so if you're into that go read it, its really good.
Anyways, the show was still good. They played a couple tracks from morning view (warning, nice to know you, mexico, wish you were here) spork is an elitist who made a point of singing along extra loud to the ones we werent supposed to know cause the album isnt out yet. hehe. Bradon did his little stripping routine for the ladies just like at ozzfest, taking off a layer of clothes and tokeing up backstage between songs. I think he got progressively crazier as the show went on. unfortunately they didnt really do anything cool like playing covers or even talking to the audience and there was really no stage show except for some trippy projections of the back wall. spinning chuck heads! hell yea! But thats ok, they're such a talented band they dont need to do anything crazy to make a good show. When warning came on it sent chills down my spine. its gotta be my favourite incubus song yet. That and when he was doing some really cool lyrical harmony stuff in "the warmth" and a couple others.
o yea, and theSTART was pretty good for a warm up band. They werent great and at the time i was absoultely fuming over being in arena seating instead of on the floor so i couldnt even listen that much. Incubus was way better but their performance was worth the 45 minutes or so it lasted.
Thats about it. i was gonna copy down a track listing but my pen was contraband so i dont have that exactly. Definitely worth the trip, too bad we couldnt get on the floor, cool that joanna and ashley could, great band, great show, lousy venue, definitely gotta go see their next tour, hopefully closer to home, i'm done now, later.
