Well, I haven't updated in a while, I know. It's pretty bad, actually. And I guess my spork ops won't take the initiative either. So I have decided that because I'm not as busy as I used to be, that I need to start working on this site. I mean, work is only giving me about 20 hours now and school isn't as bad either. It's after finals, and the beginning of the semester, and so things are sorta easier now. They'll probalby get harder, but I need to take advantage of my time now. Obviously Science Fair soon, but I'm not too worried about that just yet. Anyway, I want to take advantage of my time now before things get busy again and try to work on this site, and also try and see people more often! I went out tonight and actually had some fun for the first while.
So hopefully we'll see some good changes soon.
But on another note, I just decided like one second ago that I'm going to have a design contest. We all know that I can't design, it's pretty much proven, and so I am going to have a contest. The winner will get a prize, if I decide to chose one of the submissions. In fact, why dont' I just say 25 dollars? If that's reasonable, then submit as many designs as you'd like! Submit 40, and have me pick one, or submit one really good one and have me pick it, whatever the choice. But com'n, if only like one person (Joanna) participates then no one will get to have a chance at the twenty five bucks.
So, I'll put forward some rules.
1) Can't use frames. I hate it, they're clunky, and they dont' work well with ASP.
2) Limit your javascript. If you use it, it must be compatible with IE and Netscape both, even though I know my pics page doesn't work with Netscape. I'm working on that.
3) Nothing too bloated and large to download.
Things to keep in mind:
I don't necessarily have to keep the current layout with pics at left, news in the middle, and poll/journal at right. If you'd like to move stuff around, do it. And if I like it, I'll keep it. But I do want them on the front page. Remember the news archive, and I may possibly make other pages. Basically, it should serve as a template design. I can throw the pages I need into some sort of "main cell" of a table or something like that. If you have a totally totally awesome design and just don't want my pics page, or my poll, or wahtever to be on the front, fine, but make sure you make a second design that matches the first for those pages as well.
Anyway, hope people participate. Email me (address found above where my name is) and tell me if you're going to participate. Because if only one or two people participate, then I won't do it.
Lastly, I reserve the right to not award someone the money, in which case I would not use the design. So basically if I don't like any of the designs, no one wins.
Oh, also, this is open to everyone, even if I dont' know you. I can do paypal if I have to get it to someone across the nation.
